On January 29, 2015, firefighters from Puerto Aysen, Chile, were called to rescue a man who placed his life in danger after he climbed a treacherous cliff while searching for his lost dog. Both man and lost pet were found and rescued.

It was 8:30 p.m. when an anxious woman walked into a police station to say that her 34-year-old partner was climbing the Cordón cliff searching for their lost dog. However, the couple had no certainty their pet was stranded on the cliff and the woman feared for her partner’s life.

Firefighters grabbed their climbing gear and headed to the Cordón cliff. After descending a treacherous path, they found the man close to falling off into the abyss and next to him was a dog.

Both men and dog were secured to the rescuers’ climbing gear and hoisted up to safe ground. Neither pet or pet owner suffered any injuries.
