It amazes us how the people that need the most help are the ones who help the most. When Joey was abandoned tied to a pole in San Predro, Calif., the person who came to his rescue was Lisa, a woman living out of her broken down van with her two cats.

Lisa found Joey tied and he had a note on his collar that asked to help him find a good home. Lisa called authorities but they told her to call Animal Control or simply set him free. Animal Control couldn’t come get the dog and the good woman couldn’t turn her back on this dog. She rescued Joey and walked him to the nearest shelter, which was three miles away.

Because of Lisa, Joey was saved and placed in a loving forever home, but Joey wasn’t the only one that got a second chance in life.

Watch the video and see how Joey’s and Lisa’s stories unfold.
