Hank is a white shepherd that has been staying with foster mom Rachel Kauffman  He had only been with her for two days before he went to another foster care facility, but he took off out of there and walked his way back to his foster mom.

Kauffman also has two dogs of her own, and is fostering one other dog as well.  She felt as if she had developed a very strong bond with Hank despite the short time they were together.

Hank was taken to a different foster facility, and wasn’t there very long at all.  No one is 100% sure on why he decided to take off on his new foster family, but he made tracks, quick.

Hank then walked over 11 miles over two days, through strange and unfamiliar territories and neighborhoods.  Eventually, he wound up at Kauffman’s front door.  All the while, Hank’s new foster family searched high and low, but they couldn’t find him.  They had no idea that he’d taken off to be with Kauffman.

Kauffman has decided to make Hank a full time member of her family.  So happily, Hank has  great forever home with other dogs to play with and make new friends.

“When it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be,” said Kauffamn.
