Dog Brings His Owner Gifts When He Knows She Is Sad

“It is very hard to cry with the gift of a potato,” she said.

Dogs are the ultimate barometer of human emotion – if you are happy, they are happy.  If you are sad, they are sad.  They hate to see us upset, and will do whatever they can to cheer us up.  Sometimes, they even bring potatoes…

“Today therapy was really hard. I was sitting here crying, and generally being miserable, when I felt a nudge at my knee. I looked down to see that Zeus, my service dog, was doing his job… and brought me a potato,” Drovie posted on tumblr.

She didn’t know where the potato had come from.   But there were more to come…

Later on, she posted again:

“Remember this?  I’m having a rough time right now. Zeus has a solution.”

“That would be an empty pill bottle, the *correct* pill bottle, a bottle of embossing powder, and two, TWO potatoes.”

  1. this is adorable 🙂 .. my grandma had a cat long ago that everytime she would come home she gave her a gift lol I mean dead animals or roaches and what not 🙂 but it was cute

  2. My dog watches over me and I do the same for them. They make sure I always take my meds in the morning and at night. They watch and make sure I take them.

  3. My Corgi started to lay across my chest when I was diagnosed with breast and still as I go through treatment. It’s amazing!

  4. I lost my dog, Leon, a few years ago. He was a rescue dog and he looked EXACTLY like this dog. I was never able to find out what kind of dog he was but I would like to because I want another one. If I had a gazillion dollars I would have cloned him. I’d swear he was a human in a dog’s body.
Any help in discovering what breed this is and where I could locate one would be a prayer answered. Thanks!

  5. He’s actually correct…sometimes a nap, the right medication and good food is what it sometimes takes until you can find your way back to embossing. How wonderful !!!

  6. I must say last year I wasn’t up to much. Our wonderful dog at the time knew I wasn’t flash so he we stayed close and we had lots of snuggles.. bless him.. we lost him last Sept. He’s always special to me… dog s know there humans well I’m sure..

  7. I was feeling kinda sorry for myself until I read this. Cheered me up some. Thanks for posting this. I guess sometimes all it takes is a potato to cheer one up….. Love our poochies.

    1. Hello Bonnie!

Zeus has access to prescription drugs, because he is a service dog. He’s been trained to bring my medications when I have a panic attack. Unfortunately on the first event, I was out of my meds. On the second I had all of those bottles near each other, and I think it short circuited his brain lol.
