This isn’t the stuff your pooch may be eating, but if you are looking for a ideas for a puppy-centric birthday party, special event, rescue or shelter celebration, or just something fun for every day to sneak into the lunchbox, here are some ideas that will definitely take it to the dogs! And a perfect way to celebrate the dog days of summer.

Make things simple and fun by putting just about anything you can think of into a dog bowl.  It creates an automatic theme without a  lot of extra work.  Except, of course, to find dog bowls. Then, after the festivities, consider donating those extra bowls to your local shelter or rescue.

Using a dog-bone shaped cookie cutter can work with a variety of fruits, vegetables, sliced meats and cheeses, bread, and, of course, for cookies or biscuits. Yum.

Hot dogs seem obvious, don’t they?  Or maybe sandwiches. You can get creative using canned crescent rolls or biscuits or with a variety of dog-shaped cookie cutters. Let your guests make their own, a great idea for a kids party.

Making a cake that is bone-shaped is as easy as using four cupcakes, each with 1/4 cut out and a loaf cake put together. Just add frosting and decorations and you are good to go! If you don’t bake, just purchase prepared loaf cake and cupcakes from your local store or bakery.
