The song says you can never leave the Hotel California, but for pet hotels, this doesn’t appear to be the case.

Cash, a 7-year-old mixed breed (and the beloved baby of L.A. couple Talita Trygsland and Louis Angelo), has proven himself quite the escape artists, opening a number of doors and effectively checking himself out of the popular Pooch Pet Hotel in Hollywood.

The couple has been reeling since his disappearance.

“He is a wonderful, sweet, rescue,” Trygsland told KCAL9. “We love him like our child. He’s our baby.”

In security video that Angelo shot, Cash can be seen pawing at, then opening, a door. Another shows him in the hotel’s unmanned reception area, pushing through another door and then out into the street.

“No one was at the front desk,” Angelo said. “There was no one else around.”

At first hopeful Cash would be found quickly, the search had dragged on for a week at press time. The couple has since put flyers up throughout the area. They are offering a $1,000 reward, no questions asked, for the return of their 65-pound fur baby.

Late last week, a representative for the hotel issued the following statement:

“… Cash, one of our team’s favorites, in a series of highly unlikely circumstances, was able to open four doors and let himself out of the hotel. Our focus right now is finding Cash and bringing him home … ”

The dog’s owners will also be enlisting the help of a pet detective and bloodhounds to bring Cash home.
