We all know dogs who think they’re people. The scrappy little guy in this Inside Edition video walks like one!

When Crest, then homeless, was brought into a Texas animal care facility unable to use his front legs, it seemed likely he would be euthanized. Fortunately, his case was taken up by Dr. Matt Carriker of the Vet Ranch, who saw a future for the Chihuahua mix (and, like most people, was charmed at the way he’d found a rather athletic way to compensate for his disability). The road would be a little winding, though.

Crest had two broken forelimbs and a broken jaw, as well.

Carriker, who goes by “Dr. Matt,” decided to forgo surgery on Crest’s right leg, a poorly-healed but old injury.

“The leg is not usable, but it doesn’t bother him so I didn’t want to put him through a major unnecessary surgery,” Dr. Carriker wrote on Vet Ranch’s YouTube page.

He focused instead on the left limb, which healed with the help of a splint, and got Crest’s jaw healed up, as well. To add insult to injury (wink, wink), Crest was neutered during the process, as well.

Months later, post rehab, Crest is still walking upright — a tiny T-Rex, a kangaroo, a meerkat, a little human being — and has since been adopted by a loving family in Los Angeles.
