Cletus was sadly surrendered by his human, because they had found themselves homeless, and the person was concerned that they would no longer be able to give Cletus the care he deserves.  He was found on a playground, with a note from his human explaining his situation.  For now, Cletus is staying at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter.

The note that he was found with said, “My name is Cletus!!  My owner decided she could not keep me anymore because she does not have a place to stay.  I am a very good dog.  I’m 11-years-old but I still play like a puppy.  I don’t chew anything but food.  I’m house broken.  I’m great with kids.  I play, catch Frisbees, and love to give hugs.  Can you please help me find a home?  I don’t want to go to the shelter.”

The search is now on by shelter staff to find a home for Cletus.  According to them, Cletus is very friendly, and has shown no signs of aggressiveness towards any of the humans that he’s come across as of yet.  He also seems to get along well with the other dogs that he’s been around so far.

We could only image the heartbreak that Cletus’ human must have felt in coming to this decision, but for more and more people all over the world, this is becoming a sad reality.  This is part of the reason that we are so pro-adoption.  As economic hardships become a reality for people, more dogs end up in shelters as people lose their homes.
