At 3 a.m., a girl was reported missing from her home.  A San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Twin Peaks Station dog and handler arrived at the scene.  Deja, an experienced K-9 tracker, was ready for action.

The girl was last seen with an unknown man who had taken her into the woods, according to the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department (CA). Her purse and drag marks were found, and Deja, sniffing the tracks, started trailing. Finding a house, Deja went to the front door, then refused to leave.  Inside was the girl and the man, who was arrested for kidnapping.

Responses to the Facebook posting included the following:

“Great job once again to Deja and her handler. A year ago Deja was called to help find my teenage daughter who had gone missing after school and after 2 hours we still couldn’t find her and Deja tracked her and found her in about 20 min. I will never forget this dog and will always be thankful for her and her handler and the rest of the police officers out there.”

“Thanks for a job well done Deputy Stone and Deja. As a community, we not only stand behind you, but also beside the entire RCPD department.”

“As an ex cop from Anaheim I congratulate the quick response and excellent outcome of the this incident. In a time when our men in blue are being vilified and openly attacked it’s so good to read about the positive aspect of those who choose to serve the community. Job well done Officers Stone & Deja!!!”

“Thank you officers for helping to fight crime and risking your life for us on a daily basis. We especially love the K-9 unit of our police force?”

Here’s a shout out to Deja, Deputy Stone, and all the K-9 teams out there that are saving lives each and every day.
