A man in Portland, OR, is breathing sighs of relief after he was reunited with his dog, Tiger.

On Saturday afternoon, after finishing a late breakfast at a local haunt, Randy Garman came out to find his car had been stolen. Tiger was inside.

“Then I realized I just lost my dog and my car,” Garman told NBC affiliate 12 News. “Keep the car. I want my dog back.”

Panic ensued and Garman called 911. He and a friend searched high and low for Tiger, an 8-year-old black Labrador retriever.

Not long after police took the report, an officer spotted Garman’s car in the parking lot of a local Starbucks and arrested 29-year-old Isiah John Gellatly in connection with the theft.

“I’m pressing charges. He stole my dog, that’s my kid,” Garman said.

"You don't know how happy I am to see you," Garman said to sweet girl, Tiger. (Photo: 12News)

Gellatly let Tiger out of the car not far from where he stole it. Officers found her wandering nearby and reunited her with a much-relieved Garman.

Police said Gellatly let Tiger out of the car near the Mouse Trap Tavern. Officers found her wandering in a neighborhood, then reunited her with her owner. They’d been separated for about four hours.

“It’s my dog,” Garman said. “If you have children, it’d be the same thing….”

Garman said his doors were unlocked and his windows were rolled down to make sure Tiger had some air.

He says he plans to buy a steering wheel lock so this doesn’t happen again.
