Everything’s a gamble in Las Vegas, apparently even meeting someone who says he found your lost dog.
Suenny Nougueira put up fliers around her family’s neighborhood after her dog, an 11-year-old pit bull named Holly, disappeared last week. She was elated when she received a text with news that Holly had been found, but before long, the situation soured.
“He’s like ‘I have your dog, but I need to talk to you,’” Nougueira said.
The person on the other end wanted a lot of money for Holly’s return.
“He wanted to have $800 for my dog,” Nougueira told KTNV13. “I was like it’s not fair. It’s my dog,” Nougueira said.
That person sent another message, saying, “I may give ‘em back for a price or else I’m gonna’ sell.”
When Nougueira demanded proof, the person on the other end sent a generic picture of a pit bull. It did not appear to be her dog and Nougueira went to police to report the scammers.
“I feel very angry,” Nougueira said.
Thankfully she didn’t fall for the scam, but sadly, her beloved Holly is still missing.
“People use your emotions. They know you are really hurt,” Nougueira said, adding she doesn’t care what happens to the people trying to shake her down. She just wants her dog back.
