Last year, Butterfly was rescued from a puppy mill by Jane Wickler.  Butterfly is paralyzed, and the crushed vertebrae and dislodged stomach that caused this is something she got from abuse at the hands of some cruel people.  Today, life is much better for Butterfly, and she’s not only been rescued, but given a way to get around a little bit easier.

“There is just so much personality now,” Wickler said.  “She was like a 12-year-old dog; she was just tired and blah.  Oh, now she is a sassy girl.”

Now, Butterfly isn’t just surviving, but thriving!  She can be found at the local PetSmart that Wickler works at, greeting customers about three days a week.  Shoppers LOVE the adorable little dog and her indominable spirit.  Even though she’s known A LOT of suffering in her life, she shines brightly with an uncommon spark.

“Some will shop just when she’s here to see her,” Wickler said.  “She brings more to this place than some perfectly able-bodied dog does.”
