Activists Intercept Meat Dog Trucks Bound for Guangdong Province

For the third time this year, Chinese animal activists have saved hundreds of dogs from slaughter in Guangdong province’s notorious dog meat markets.

The trucks were intercepted in the Sichuanese city of Pengzhou as they were loading. Activists blocked the road, demanded that dog trafficker Tang Qiong stop loading his trucks, and asked him to free all dogs in his possession.

Tang initially refused, claiming that he possessed all licenses and quarantine certificates required by the government. When protesters noticed numerous dead dogs in cages, Tang said they were going to be used to feed chickens.

When pressed, Tang was unable to produce any of the documents he had claimed were in his possession. He deferred to the activists, who then set about the task of securing and transporting more than 200 dogs for quarantine and vaccination, noting that some of the dogs were pets that had gone missing from their owners.

This is the third standoff of its kind in less than a year: in April, animal activists blocked trucks on the Beijing-Harbin highway that were transporting 520 dogs to market. In October, more than 800 dogs were seized from unlicensed dog trader Tang Daguo.

  1. In China the dogs being bred for food can be considered the lucky one. After a short life of abuse, they are merely clubbed and cut up. The less unfortunate ones are bred for fur. When their time is up, they are skinned alive. Their jaws are first stuffed the stop them biting and muffle some of the screams, and their legs are broken to stop them kicking. They need to be alive during the skinning process to get the best quality fur, much of it only for decoration. But, as the Chinese will quickly tell you, this practice will stop in Europeans and Americans stop buying fur. So think about this when you see these nice fur lined designer boots

  2. Wherever you are from, if you’re harming an animal, ANY animal, you can go f-ck yourself. If you’re eating meat but have the ability to eat other things to sustain yourself, you can go f-ck yourself. If you’re wearing fur or leather and you have the ability to purchase alternatives, you can go f-ck yourself. If you claim humans eat meat because we’re at the top of the food chain, you’re a f-cking idiot. If you claim humans are natural carnivores (or omnivores), you’re doubly idiotic — does our mouth water for or are our teeth or intestines ‘built’ to consume raw meat? Is it ‘natural’ or even logical to consume the milk of another species? Wake the f-ck up, develop compassion and common sense, and again, go f-ck yourselves. Have a nice day! PS This was a bit of a rant, I’m generally pretty chill, but I am sick of people’s excuses and justifications for certain things.
