The Layne Murray Unit in Gatesville, TX is home to a unique program from Patriot Paws that trains inmates to train service dogs.
Inmates volunteer for the program, which calls for dogs and prisoners live together for up to two years, until the dogs are ready for a wounded vet who needs them. Patriot Paws’ continued commitment is to work with the matched veterans and dogs as they learn to work together as a team.
Fox2 St. Louis also ran this new segment on Puppies for Parole, an organization we’ve covered recently.
