Lost but not forgotten, a Colorado dog spent six months on the run, eventually ending up at a shelter in Salinas, CA., 1200 miles from home.

Since November of 2010 Samantha Squires has been searching for Buster Brown after he went missing from her yard. When the dog was recently turned in to the Salinas Animal Services shelter, a microchip was scanned, but the numbers it returned were outdated. The shelter sent a letter to the last known address of the dog’s owner, asking them to claim the dog by the 31st of May. After that date he would be listed for adoption.

On the afternoon of the 31st the shelter received a very emotional call from Samantha Squires. She was elated to know Buster was safe, but lacked the resources to get him home. Out of desperation she called Frontier Airlines. She told them Buster’s story, and they were so moved they offered to donate a flight from San Francisco to Boulder.

Thanks to their generosity, this Friday Buster Brown was homeward bound. And thanks to a new find just discovered, his reunion with his family is included in a video added below.
