A man has come forward with information regarding the death of Jetta, a black lab that was found this past Saturday morning initially believed to have been dragged to her death. The death was thought to be a horrible case of animal cruelty and had outraged the community of animal lovers. The information volunteered by this man shed a different light on what many thought had happened to Jetta.

The man reportedly told investigators that he found Jetta on his property injured due to being hit by a car or some similar accident. Jetta was in a lot of pain and visibly suffering so the man shot her to put her out of her misery.

He initially left Jetta on his property, but the man later on moved the deceased dog off his property due to odor. The man used wire to drag her to the side of the road and off his property. This is why Jetta’s body was found with her legs bound, leading people to believe she had been dragged to her death. Witnesses have supported the man’s story.

The case has been forwarded to the Rogers County District Attorney’s office where they will determine what, if any, charges will be filed. It no longer appears that animal cruelty charges will be filed, though there are still possible charges including the misdemeanor charge of unlawful disposal of a corps.

Animal lovers had come forward over the past few days, including University of Oklahoma and Dallas Cowboys coach Barry Switzer, and raised over $25,000 as a reward for those with information in the case. Since this money is no longer needed, Wild Heart Ranch, the rescue group organizing the reward, has offered to refund all donors.
