Dog Reunited With Family After Surviving Four Years in NC Wilderness
New Bern, N.C., residents Greg and Leigh Wilkinson discuss losing their dog Teddy Bear near Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in 2006, and being reunited with her four years later. Teddy survived in a wilderness heavily populated with bears, alligators and wolves. Her owners were astounded to learn that she had survived. The camera operator was kind enough to stop just before the crying started.

Teddy is a tough survivor!
I would have been a delicious meal to bears, alligators and wolves.
What a happy ending story!

I am sooo happy the dog is safe, thanks so much for sharing! This is mind-boggling!
There is more to this story then meets the eye..there is no way dog would have survived in these woods 2 weeks let alone 4 years! Who really had the dog?
So goes the old saying “Never give up!”

this time you didn’t make me cry Neil :p
But I tried!
That is amazing- they seem like such nice people, so happy for them!
I cannot even imagine the emotional roller coaster those peolpe were on. That story is just amazing.
Wow, I wonder what that poor dog went through during those 4 years. That is so amazing they got her back after so long.
I wish I could’ve been reunited with my kitty after he disappeared. He would be dead for sure now though because it’s been at least 14 years and he was already 3 or 4 years old when he disappeared. I always wondered what happened to him.
How did they get her back??
Wonderful ending. So glad they are reunited.
What a beautiful story. I wonder what Teddy went through those 4 years. Glad they are all reunited.
Oh my GOSH! That is so AMAZING! Teddy is one smart and tough doggie for sure. I’m Most Happy that her family didn’t give up on her and I hope from now on she sticks close to home.

Wow, that story sure makes us have more hope. I hope Teddy is not emotionally scarred, he looks scared but so glad he is back where he belongs and is loved.
Happily, Carol
That dog is one tough little cookie if she survived that long on her own. Perhaps her shyness kept her from getting too much in harm’s way. I’m glad she finally got home and that they don’t have to wonder about her anymore!
The will to come back to home!
Thanks for sharing it!
Kisses and hugs

I do love a happy ending. Four years is a very long time. I wish Teddy could tell all about what went on.
lotsa licks, Lola
We always love happy endings…. So touching…
If Teddy can speak I would definitely wanna know how he survived the 4 years.. I bet I can’t even survive a week outside.
Wonder if Teddy has gonna a little wild himself?
