Dog Reunited With Family After Surviving Four Years in NC Wilderness

New Bern, N.C., residents Greg and Leigh Wilkinson discuss losing their dog Teddy Bear near Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge in 2006, and being reunited with her four years later. Teddy survived in a wilderness heavily populated with bears, alligators and wolves. Her owners were astounded to learn that she had survived. The camera operator was kind enough to stop just before the crying started.

Wow, I wonder what that poor dog went through during those 4 years. That is so amazing they got her back after so long.

I wish I could’ve been reunited with my kitty after he disappeared. He would be dead for sure now though because it’s been at least 14 years and he was already 3 or 4 years old when he disappeared. I always wondered what happened to him.

Oh my GOSH! That is so AMAZING! Teddy is one smart and tough doggie for sure. I’m Most Happy that her family didn’t give up on her and I hope from now on she sticks close to home.

Wow, that story sure makes us have more hope. I hope Teddy is not emotionally scarred, he looks scared but so glad he is back where he belongs and is loved.

That dog is one tough little cookie if she survived that long on her own. Perhaps her shyness kept her from getting too much in harm’s way. I’m glad she finally got home and that they don’t have to wonder about her anymore!
