David Lanteigne says Lilly will bounce back soon. “Very sad but with her strong nature she will be back to her ol’ self doing her spin moves running up and down my front yard!”

TriPod (or TriPawd) doggers do just fine. The hard part will be supporting her back end and keeping her quiet while healing. My prayers to Lilly and her family.

Lilly is truly a hero and an ambassador for her breed. This is a great video. It shows so well the bond and obvious love between her and her family. I didn’t “lose it” until the very last clip.

Poor Lily is clearly in so much pain that it just makes me cry that her “mom” was such a sick alcoholic that she passed out on the tracks. Lily pulled her to safety trying to get out of the way of the train because her alky owner (I’d say “mom” but no mom would treat a precious dog like that) was tangled in her leash.
I would be happy to donate to Lily’s care, but it would only go to more alcohol so I’m sending it directly to the vet with the hopes and prayers that Lily goes to a GOOD person who appreciates her for who she is and where her life is not threatened by a sick freak who drinks herself into oblivion.
To Lily’s current owner: GET HELP!!! You are an alcoholic! Google it!

I AM BY NO MEAN CONDONING WHAT HER OWNER DID TO CAUSE THESE INJURIES TO LILY BUT LILY LOVED HER ENOUGH TO PUT HER OWN LIFE ON THE LINE TO SAVE HER……SO BEFORE YOU MAKE SUCH A RASH JUDGEMENT OF THE OWNER MAYBE YOU NEED TO WALK IN HER SHOES FOR A FEW MILES. I AM SO READY TO RIP THE HEAD OFF OF ANYONE WHO WOULD DELIBERATLY HARM AN ANIMAL AND I DON’T BELIEVE THIS IS THE CASE HERE. BUT IN REALITY DOES IT REALLY MATTER WHAT WE THINK, IT WAS LILLY’S CALL AND SHE DID WHAT SHE THOUGHT BEST, AND I TRULY BELIEVE LILLY KNOWS HER OWNER BETTER THEN ALL OF US AND TO HER SHE WAS WORTH SAVING. MAYBE IF MORE HUMANS HAD THE SAME COMPASSION AND LOVE IN THEIR HEARTS AS LILLY DID WE WOULD BE LIVING IN A BETTER PLACE.
BY THE WAY …MY POST WAS DIRECTED TO FAITH. I CAN SYMPATHIZE WITH YOUR FEELING FOR LILLY, BUT THINK ABOUT IT LILLYS BOND WITH HER OWNER WAS STRONGER THEN ANY TRAIN.

Wow, Faith. Your lack of compassion is nasty and ugly. Did you even watch the video? Her son, a policeman, and his family are taking care of Lilly’s mom and help her deal with her alcoholism. He obviously loves this dog to pieces, and you’re blind if you can’t see that. If you did a little research before rushing to judgement, you’d know that the account is in her son’s name, as he is the one dealing with the vet.
And for the few of you who do not like the fact that I am speaking the truth, would you entrust the care of YOUR dog to this woman?
Lack of compassion? Did you actually READ my post? My compassion is overflowing for poor Lily! It’s her owner I’d like to see charged with animals endangerment!
I stand by my original post. It is because of the woman’s ALCOHOLISM and the FACT that she PASSED OUT on the railroad tracks that she put Lily in mortal danger. She needs help and Lily needs a new home.

Awesome video, awesome story. One I know those that hate the breed will not acknowledge, other than to challenge whether it actually happened (seriously?!) or claim that Lilly was actually attacking her owner when it happened. Ignorance and hate cannot, I suppose, handle things that are good and positive.
This makes me hate her human even more. . We are responsible every moment for our pets.

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE LILY DOGSWELL CHICKEN JERKY TREATS!!!! They are made in China and have caused hundreds if dogs to become very ill and die. Google it and you’ll find tons of info and an FDA report on these China made treats. Lily has been thru enough please make sure she doesn’t eat these.

Pittys and shepherds are wonderful loyal dogs. I cried while watching this video. She is def a hero!!! You can see the love for her family in her smiling face. Beautiful dog inside and out!
Understand the whole story before you trash the family and call people names! The womans son, a boston police officer, is the one who adopted Lilly and is doing everything for this very well loved dog.
I hope her owner get’s sober so she doesn’t risk Lilly’s life again. Did you know she passed out on the tracks drunk? That’s why Lilly risked her life, lost her leg, and became seriously injured. Why isn’t anybody talking about this? Animal Welfare???? Food is great, but what about the more important issue? Her safety???

@Karen….the details are that the woman passed out because she was drunk and the dog risked her life to save her. That isn’t passing judgement on the woman, it is stating the facts as they’ve been told. Lilly would not be dealing with this horrific event if it wasn’t for the irresponsibility of her owner. THAT is what is sickening!

I had a pitt and her name was Jenniffer she is in heaven now from old age but she was the sweeest dog ever. To many times these dog get a bad rap it’s not the dog but owners!
