An English pointer, commonly used as a hunting dog, has been found sickly underweight and abandoned in New Jersey this past Thursday. Now under the care of vets at an Animal Control Solutions facility in Bedminster Township, New Jersey, “hunt” is on to find a loving forever home for this abandoned pooch.
“As you can see in the pictures the dog is extremely underweight and is currently being treated and is under a veterinarian’s care,” said Thomas Dodd. Dodd is president of Animal Control Solutions (ACS).
ACS is responsible for animal control for many townships and municipalities all over Somerset County, NJ.
Dodd said, “The only lead we have is that the same day an unknown man was attempting to give his dog away to a few local vets. None of the vets saw the dog or got a license plate on the vehicle he was driving. The only description I have is a white male, 200 pounds, with a foreign accent. He told one of the vets he is a contractor.”
The land the dog was found abandoned on may belong to one of the many hunting clubs in the area according to Dodd.
“We haven’t heard from an owner of the dog yet, maybe it was abandoned. It will likely be going to a pointer rescue after the seven-day stray hold,” Dodd said.
