The real estate around Washington DC’s Nationals Park is quickly transforming. And a few of the latest new sights include the grain silo and stainless steel fermenters of a growing brand of indie operations: a brewery. Bardo Brewery, to be specific.
Their rustic beer garden is slinging suds in an astonishingly baseball-friendly location just steps from the stadium’s home plate gate.
And their 2-acre site — which will eventually be home to luxury condos, among other things — is slated for all manner of development as they improve their complex. One of the most fun features is a new dog run.
“We’ve always been dog friendly, we figured it would be nice to have an off-leash dog area. It’s about half an acre. We feel it’s the biggest dog park in the city,” Andrew Stewart, co-owner of Bardo Brewery, told WTOP.
With the Philadelphia Phillies in town and a doubleheader on Sunday, some Nats fans enjoyed the beer garden while their dogs sported Nats team colors.

Bardo Brewery operated for years in Arlington before moving.
“We stuck the brewery in storage for a little while, just pulled it out recently and fired it back up,” said Stewart.
Their beer-swilling, dog-loving customers are delighted to be able to bring their pups along to socialize and get exercise while they enjoy the cold ones.
