One of the two puppies that Johnson adopted this past weekend needed to be rescued from drowning in his backyard pool!

This past weekend was a very eventful one for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and family.  Not only did they adopt two adorable little puppies, but one of them had to be rescued from drowning in the backyard pool!

“Here’s a fun Labor Day weekend story… We just decided to add two new members to our Johnson family.  Baby French Bulldogs.  In my right hand is BRUTUS and in my left hand is HOBBS,” he wrote on his Instagram page.

“Bring them home and immediately take them outside so they can start learning how to ‘handle their business and potty like big boys.’  I set them both down and they both take off in a full sprint and fall right into the deep end of our pool.  HOBBS immediately starts doggy paddling while BRUTUS (like a brick) sinks head first to the bottom of the pool.”

“I take off into a full sprint, fully clothed, dive in the pool, swim to the bottom, rescue my brick, I mean BRUTUS and bring him back to the edge of the pool.  He was a little delirious.  Took a moment, threw up all the water he swallowed and looked up at me as if to say, ‘Thank God you didn’t have to give me mouth to mouth!’ and then ran off to play with his brother.”

“A few lessons I’ve learned today;  A) Not all puppies have the instinct to doggie paddle,  B) Some puppies (like BRUTUS) will be so in shock by experiencing water they will sink extremely fast so react quick, and C) While spiriting to save your puppies life, before you dive in, try and throw your cell phone to safety!  Don’t keep it in your pocket… like I did.”

Cell phones aside, he managed to grab Brutus and get him to safety before anything bad happened.  Maybe a small fence around the pool might be a good idea?  Nothing too big, they are Frenchies after all!

  1. He wouldn’t have had to “rescue” the puppy had they been paying attention and not let them near the pool in the first place.

  2. Ashley Milton its our dreams come true!! Also…big strong good looking man saving dogs? Might as well call him #Pertz 🙀😜❤️

  3. These comments, so judgmental! It’s a cute story told with alot of humor and ends with a happy ending, I mean, come on! So he bought a couple of breed specific dogs, no crime has been committed here.

  4. Correct, dumb ass shouldn’t have let his puppies anywhere near the pool. Yes I am curious about where he got them from – maybe a breed rescue?

  5. Nobody knows the whole story…so why throw him under the bus? This may just be a way to encourage people to adopt. Not everything has to be put under a microscope…just accept his his assistance on puppy adoption. The end.

  6. All dogs can only swim for so long anyway!! They panic. Can’t find steps! Short bulldog muzzle limits breathing.
Puppies are too small to have stamina. WTF?
Does NO ONE have an ounce of common sense anymore?????? And, going to a breeder? Shame on you. Visit a shelter. See the dogs that are put down daily!!!!!

  7. puppies and pools don’t mix….did he rescue from a shelter???? or just adopt from a breeder..he’d be a real hero if he got them from a rescue or a shelter…just saying If You Love Me, Put a Leash On Me

  8. You’re going to love your Frenchies but all puppies need a lot of looking after until they get a little older. Mine like to bite the cords that were in the plugs just to feel the jolt. Enjoy.

  9. Honest to Pete. Momentary mistake and puppies jumped in a pool. And the man jumped in without hesitation to correct the situation. A lot of perfect pet owners here, apparently. Good man, Rock.

  10. Since when do they have French bulldog puppies for adoption? Probably from breeders charging $2000 adoption fee. After reading article, I think he had the best intentions. I think breeders are so F’ed up for misleading people. But adopters should be hip to this scam by now.

  11. I’m glad that the puppies are doing good and he saved their lives, but who wouldn’t have and they make a big fuss over this! I helped rescue a family out of a car accident one time and I didn’t expect any kind of media coverage LOL

  12. These puppies should be removed from his home now and returned after a full investigation for their safety. Hopefully these puppies were adtoped..if not, why not?

  13. From what I’ve heard, he “threw” them into the pool, thinking that they could do the *doggie paddle* automatically. When one couldn’t, he had to *rescue* it. Not exactly what I would call *Hero* material. :/

  14. If you are reading this your parents will die with in 5 years to break the curse you must copy this other five picture good luck if you love your mom post this to 20 pictures 1 girl ignored this and her mom died 365 days later sorry I cant ignore this because I luv my mom
