Get a good look at this most mellow nan: Ashes!

This lovely Lab boy has no idea that he’s 10 years old, and he’s certainly going strong.
The folks at the Animal Rescue League of Iowa are hoping one of you out there will fall in love, because they surely have.

Here’s a little more about this sweet, silvery doll….

BIG FAN OF: People. He is friendly to everyone.

NOT A FAN OF: Loud sounds like thunder or fireworks. He wants a safe place to be when he hears these things. Young children are also a bit too much for him. At this point in his life, Ashes needs a mature and mellow home.

SPECIAL FEATURES: Ashes is a good-natured guy who loves exploring, going on walks and relaxing with his family. He has done very well with other dogs and cats and liked to cuddle up with the cats in his previous home at night. He currently knows sit.

OTHER REASONS HE’S SPECIAL: Ashes has been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, which can lead to difficulty walking, especially as continues to age. There’s lots more information available on Ashes’ kennel at the ARL, but we’d also encourage you to consult your regular veterinarian with questions.

DREAM HOME: With a fun, mature family who will make him part of their daily lives. Ashes has lived the majority of his life as an outside dog, so he will need some time to adjust to a life where he is primarily indoors. Please plan on giving him some extra time to settle in.

Ashes is part of ARL’s Shelter Dog Getaway program, which is designed to give dogs a vacation from the shelter and let them enjoy home life while they wait to be adopted. While vacation is fun, there really is no place like home, so please consider adopting Ashes (or one of ARL’s other deserving dogs)! As part of this program, their adoption fee is just $60. Same goes for Ashes! What a steal!
