Kerry Brown and Christian Skowlund, co-owners of the D Pet Hotel in Chelsea, greet a new arrival upon check-in.

New Yorkers going on vacation will soon have a new option for their pets’ care while they’re fly off to the Bahamas. D Hotel, the newest dog hotel, provides all the luxuries of home for your furry canine friend. “As a New Yorker, when you go on vacation, and you stay in a fabulous hotel, with fabulous services, your dog is staying in a fabulous hotel with fabulous services,” says Shawn Hassanzadeh, one of the three owners of the new hotel.

Offering flat screen TVs, soft pillows, a gym, and specialty chef-created meals, your dog will be pampered and spoiled. The two fanciest suites boast double beds, but all suites offer DVD players for home movies so your dog doesn’t get lonely, personal trainers and dog walkers, and playgrounds the separate the dogs according to size and energy level. The hotel also provides boarding, day care, and healthy meals for your dogs.

Oh, and don’t forget the spa, or “spaw,” with grooming and peticures by Ali McLennan, groomer of Animal Planet fame.

Standard rooms go for $79 a day and the luxury suites cost up to $200 per day. Room service, daily walks, and other extras are available for additional fees.

“When it comes to taking care of your pet, which most people see as their kids, you want to make sure every detail is taken care of well,” says Kerry Brown, co-owner. “And we make sure every detail is taken care of. It is a lot of effort.”
