Valentina is a former stray from Puerto Rico, and when she was found, her body was completely covered in tar. No one knows who poured tar on her or why, but her rescuers knew they had to do everything in their power to help her.

Alianza Pro Rescate Animales stepped up to save Valentina. They took her to a vet and learned the dog not only suffered from the tar purposely poured on her body, but she also suffered from demodex, heartworm and ear fungus.

The rescue organization cleaned up Valentina and just three days later the dog’s demeanor and will to live was completely transformed.

Her recovery process was captured in the following video.
