A dog-loving family in Chicago is breathing easier now that their 2-year-old Pomeranian, Chubbs. is safely back home.

On Friday, Jillian Savino said she went to a contractor’s office to pick up granite samples; she pulled into an alley adjacent to the business in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, leaving Chubbs in the car for the moment — engine running, air conditioning on.

When she returned, however, her black 2009 Honda CRV was gone — along with Chubbs!

Chubbs was spotted walking alone later that evening and a passerby called 3-1-1. He was reunited with his owners late Friday night, WLS-TV reported.

The family had offered a $1,000 reward for the Pom’s safe return.
