Javier Peña Naranjo never thought any of his neighbors – let alone his family members, would call the cops on him, but that’s just what happened after many witnessed how he abused and tried to kill his own dog. His own niece, 19-year-old Margarita Gutierrez, rescued the dog and called the cops on her uncle. Thanks to the brave teenager, the badly injured dog was saved and the man spent some time in jail.

The 45-year old man had a female dog tethered in the backyard all her life, he hardly fed her and the abuse happened on August 11, 2015, when the dog chased and killed a few chickens the man had in the yard. In the rage, the abuser beat the dog, slashed her neck by pulling her by the wire tether, then stuffed her in a sack, tied it, and dumped the dog over a nearby bridge and into a river in Pudahuel, Chile.

When the abuse started Gutierrez, along other neighbors heard the dog’s cries and witnessed the abuse. The rescuer couldn’t believe her uncle was abusing the dog in that way and when she saw him throw the hurt dog into the river, she went after the pet. The dog was almost lifeless, but Guitierrez performed CPR and revived her.

Authorities were called, Peña Naranjo was arrested on felony animal abuse charges and the dog transported to a veterinarian.

The dog was renamed Bidemita after the animal cruelty investigation unit (BIDEMA – Brigada Investigadora de Delitos contra el Medioambiente y Patrimonio Cultural) that took on her case. The dog was cared for, nursed back to health, and most importantly, she was not released back to her owner.

As for the abuser, unfortunately a judge decided to set him free because he had no prior records. He was placed on probation for one full year and his arrest record will be wiped clean if he does not commit any other crimes within the year.

        • This is horrifying. This man should be

put away in jail for fifty years.. The judge should receive the same. We need to clean up our judicial system. This judge is a heartless person and an idiot.. May something of the sort happen to him.

      • If the Judge let this jerk out of jail and any more abuses happens, then the Judge should finish out the sentence himself (himself in jail)!!

    • What is wrong with people!!! That lady is a blessing for saving that fur baby from that awful human! I know it wasn’t easy to call the police on her uncle but I’m so happy to read that she stood up to that animal abuser! and I am also happy to read that guy spent time in jail! He deserves that plus some! How can anyone hurt an innocent animal!!! People are so sick!

  1. This was a felony animal abuse charge and he gets probation and his record wiped after one year? Absurd. The poor dog was no doubt hungry seeing the SOB apparently didn’t feed him well to begin with. So how soon will he be replacing it with another dog to abuse? Judges, it’s time to wake up!!! A crime is a crime.

  3. Thank god the family member did the right thing…half the time people only get caught in their crimes because people tell the police. I applaud the niece, keep up the good work!! As for him, once again, a slap on the hand..justice would be served if people took the law in their own hands with this man.

  4. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH OUR JUSTICE SYSYTEM. IT MAKES ME SICK HOW THE JUDGE CAN BE SO DAMN EASY ON THIS ANIMAL ABUSER..TO GIVE HIM PROBATION BECAUSE HE HAS NO PRIOR RECORD. OBVIOUSLY THE JUDGE IS NOT A PET OWNER.. TO KNOW HOW MUCH ABUSE THIS POOR DOG ENDURED ALL THOSE YEARS IS DISGUSTING.. I FEEL SORRY FOR THIS POOR DOG AND EVERYTHING SHE WENT THROUGH..GOD BLESS HIS NIECE FOR HER BRAVERY AND FOR WHAT SHE DID , BY RESCUING THIS POOR DOG FROM THE RIVER AND GETTING HER THE MEDICAL ATTENTION THAT SHE SO DESPERATLY NEEDED.. NOW THIS SWEET DOG WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO LIVE A HAPPY AND HEALTHY LIFE THAT SHE SO DESERVES.. IF ONLY THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE LIKE MS. GONZALES TO HELP SAVE AN ABUSED ANIMAL.THIS WOULD BE A MUCH BETTER WORLD TO LIVE IN.. I AM A VOICE FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT SPEAK.. I AM A DOG OWNER AND HAVE BEEN ALL MY LIFE.. THEY ARE A PART OF MY FAMILY AND GET SO MUCH LOVE DAILY.. I AM TRULY BLESSED..

  5. What a brave young woman to save this precious dog, get help for her and alert the authorities. She may endure much family anger but she followed her heart. Shame the judge took it so lightly.
