An amazing tale of hope provides encouragement to those working to rescue trapped survivors in Joplin, MO.
A rescue team in Joplin was working with a trained search dog, looking for victims trapped under debris left by a deadly F5 tornado that created a 12 mile swath of devastation. Cameras were rolling when ‘Javier’ caught a scent in the rubble, and when rescue team members began to dig they heard faint moaning. They pressed on, expecting to find a human trapped under the collapsed home.
To their surprise, an exhausted dog was found huddled in a pocket created as the home came down around it, and ABC7 reporters captured the moment when the survivor was rescued.
Javier’s trainer said the rescue just goes to show that you should never give up.
