The tiny dog was sitting in his carrier keeping his owner company while she ate when suddenly he was snatched up by a bicycle riding thief and disappeared. Â The 5 month old Yorkie named Monster has been missing since last Wednesday and his owner is pleading for his safe return. Â The theft was caught on a surveillance camera and police are investigating.
“I feel like there’s a big rock at the bottom of my stomach,” said Athina Kafouros, Monster’s owner, “and a knife has been jabbed into my heart.” Â Kafouros has wanted a Yorkie her whole life and the little pup has been her constant companion since she got him. Â He keeps her company while she works at Mykonos, the restaurant owned by her parents, the same place he was stolen from. Â “I used to beg my parents for one and I finally got him for Christmas. He ended up being the most amazing dog.”
Kafouros was having dinner near the front of the restaurant when she got up for a moment to ring in a customer’s bill. Â Monster was safely in his carrier beside her when a man on a bike reached in the open window and snatched the bag and then quickly rode off on a bicycle. Â “I almost felt violated,” said Kafouros, “cause someone came and grabbed him from me.”
Kafouros is desperate to have her baby back and has offered a $1000 reward for his safe return. Â “I just want my dog back,” said Kafouros. “I don’t care who has him or who took him.” Â If you have any information on the the stolen Yorkie, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a reward.
