Finding Dorie! Pup Stolen from Service Dog Training Facility

Owners of a nonprofit service dog training facility in northwest Georgia are asking for the public’s help in locating a golden retriever puppy that was stolen from their operation sometime following lock-down procedures on the evening of Sept. 3.

She was discovered missing the next morning. The puppy was reportedly wearing her puppy in training vest, harness and leash when she was taken.

Just three months old, Dorie had been training at Canine Assistants in the town of Milton, FOX 5 Atlanta reported.

“This is the first time in 25 years we have ever had a puppy stolen from our farm,” Canine Assistants founder and executive director Jennifer Arnold told reporters. “And considering the facts, we can only assume the person(s) involved knew our system and they had a clear intention to take Dorie along with her service vest.”

The facility conducted an internal investigation into the pup’s disappearance and found that none of their 280 volunteers had Dorie in their possession. Stricter security measures have been put in place at the facility.

Milton Police are investigating the incident. A reward (growing, thanks to generous donations) is being offered for information leading to Dorie’s safe return. At press time it was up to $3,500.
