Tilly is a survivor of extreme neglect. Â Seized from her owners following a cruelty complaint to the RSPCA in Sydney, Â Inspector James Arentz found her to be in deplorable condition. Â The RSPCA uses a scale of five to determine the health of an animal with 1 being a healthy animal and 5 being in dire condition. Â Inspector Arentz rated Tilly at a 5+, her situation so critical.

Highly emaciated with demodectic mange covering most of her body, she also was suffering a skin infection, heavy flea burden, worms, anemia and hypothermia. Her chances of survival were slim.

Tilly’s story ends happily, with her finding a forever family that loves her.  As to her former owner, the woman was convicted on multiple counts of animal cruelty, fined $1,500, and prohibited from owning any animals for the next five years.
