After spending 40 days boarded at Cobblestone Veterinary Hospital in Nixa, Mo., and after receiving media coverage from us and the local newspaper News-Leader, Kelsey Maxwell and Joe Sarmiento came forward to adopt the lucky canine.

Animal advocate Julie Spradlin-Lawson, who raised funds to cover Jonsey’s initial injuries and boarding expenses, said she is grateful for the role social media played in this happy-ending tale.

“If it wasn’t for the help of social media, the 40 days that Jonsey spent boarded at the vet could have easily turned into 90 days,” said Lawson.

On Tuesday, June 25, 2013, Maxwell and Sarmiento who live in Lebanon, Mo., drove to Nixa to pick up the latest addition to their family. The couple already owns a 6-year-old Boxer named Mackenna, and they were excited to take Jonsey back home with them.

Jonsey will be missed at Cobblestone Veterinary Hospital. Office manager S.J. Brogdon said she hopes Jonsey comes back to visit sometime.

This hit-and-run victim waited long enough to meet his humans. It is safe to say Jonsey is enjoying the life of a spoiled house-pet he much deserved.
