The scruffy 6 year-old Terrier-mix’s backstory is unknown, his matted hair and rotting teeth told a story  of neglect and much sadness. Still, Neville, was a sweet dog. Even with weeks spent in a Yucca Valley, CA, shelter, he managed to capture the hearts of the shelter staff, but, sadly, his poor appearance caused him to be overlooked by potential forever families.

In a press release from the Helen Woodward Animal Center, Animal Care Assistant Manager Mollee Sullivan stated, “Our rescue partners could see what an amazing dog he was even if visitors to the shelter couldn’t. They asked if we could take him and give him the makeover he deserved.  He arrived at the end of September and we all went to work making sure his beauty showed as much on the outside as it did on the inside.”

First, the veterinary team at Helen Woodward Animal Center gave Neville a complete exam, both medical and dental, which included the extraction of some unhealthy teeth.  Then Sydnee’s Pet Grooming, went to work, uncovering the adorable canine that was hidden beneath all the shaggy fur.

“Now he’s as adorable as his personality,” Sullivan continued, “and he seems to know it.  You can tell he’s excited to get on to this next chapter of his life.”

Just as the nature changes with the seasons, the trees shedding their leaves in autumn, turning a new leaf, so to speak, Neville, too, has come into his own and is ready for a family to call his own.
