Two weeks after abused and starved pit bull mix Patrick was rescued from a trash compactor at the Garden Spires apartment building in Newark, we check in on his recovery and get a closer look at the dog that has captured the hearts of a world of dog lovers.

While Patrick continues to improve and inspire, his alleged abuser, Kisha Curtis, is scheduled to be arraigned in Newark Municipal Court late this morning. Authorities say Curtis tied the 1-year-old dog to a railing of her Newark apartment building and left the state for more than a week.

    • I Think she should have the same treatment…tie her up to a railing and leave her for a week. So sad people have no thoughts much love for the pets that give unconditional love. Shame on her!!!!

    • They keep saying Patrick is a pit bull mix. I don’t agree. I think he looks like a red doberman. He must have at one time been a beautiful dog. Praying for you Patrick! I hope you return to the healthy dog you once were and love that you deserve.

    • I’m sorry, but Kisha’s lame excuse that she tied Patrick out then left for more then week is bull. It took a lot longer then that to make this poor boy as skinny, and as near death as he was. I say an eye for an eye would be suitable punishment.

    • I don’t think we should lock her up, exactly. I think we should put her on a road gang, building roads, sentenced to hard labor for the rest of her life.
