Officer Christine Luffey of the Pittsburgh Police Department was one of the officers responsible for executing a search and seizure warrant on a property where a pit bull called Effie was being kept.  Now, they’ll be together forever, because Luffey has decided to adopt her.

Effie’s previous owner, Gerald Walker Jr. was found guilty of willfully maiming an animal.  He’s been put on 18 months of probation.  During this time, he cannot have any animals at all in his possession or left in his care at all, meaning that Effie was going to end up homeless.

Officer Luffey couldn’t let that stand, so she stepped up and adopted her.  The adoption will be made official later today according to reports.  What a true hero!
