Tragedy was averted in Baton Rouge, LA, thanks to fast-acting boaters who saved a woman and her dog as flood waters closed in over her convertible.
The video (acquired from ABC affiliate KXXV-TV) shows the two-thirds submerged vehicle tipping up as the woman can be heard pleading for help.
“Oh my God, I’m drowning,” she says.
After a failed attempt to break the window, rescuers permeated the soft-top roof of her car, pulling her to safety, when she implores them to save her dog, still trapped inside.
After a tense few moments, it appears the dog will be lost…. But then the small, white pup is pulled from the murky water.
Close calls for all — and kudos to the brave men who made this rescue possible.
