Devo, a nearly ten year old male papillon from Minnesota, made history when he won a medal for Australia at the World Agility Championships.

Remarkably, Devo suffered acute heart failure (unbeknownst to his handler) during the last third of the 23 obstacle agility course, but his spirit persevered to carry him across the finish line.

“It was his heart that failed him, but it was his heart that carried him to the podium,” says Devo’s owner and trainer, Kimberly Sisak. She adds “Devo is a once in a lifetime dog. His tremendous determination, athleticism and love of agility enabled him to triumph amidst tragedy and make history.”

Devo is now officially retired from the sport of dog agility. See his winning performance in the following video.
