Dog Photo “Printed” by Hand Using 200,000+ Sprinkles

For a fine arts project at his university, student Joel Brochu invested eight months in a project that found him recreating a famous photograph using tiny nonpareils. 221,184 individual sprinkles were used to create the 4-foot-wide image, assembled with double-sided tape and glue. Each sprinkle was placed by hand with jewelry tweezers.

A custom computer program was used to analyze the original photo, and allowed for recreation using just six colors: red, orange, green, blue, black, and white. The piece was permanently preserved with clear acrylic resin.
