 12.20.13 - Blind Bella and Jolly Need a Home1

Bella and Jolly are an adorable duo – a bonded pair – that were brought into a Florida shelter last month. Bella is blind, and needs Jolly to help her do every day activities. But the one thing he can’t help her do is find a home for them – maybe you can.

Bella, an Australian shepherd, and Jolly, a golden Lab, are staying at the Humane Society of Treasure Coast in Palm City.

They are very happy dogs, they are very playful, said Candice Veach with the HSTC. “They are a bonded pair, they absolutely love each other, Jolly is the caretaker of Bella who’s [his] roommate.”

Bella gets around by listening for Jolly’s collar.

She actually follows Jolly’s collar by the jingle on the bell, and that’s how she knows how to eat, how to run, where to go, she just follows [him] everywhere,” Veach explained.

She is hopeful that the pair will be adopted by the end of the year.

They are the best dogs we have in the facility, just the bond they have together, and the love and compassion, and these dogs show you what friendship is all about,” Veach said.
