On Nov. 24, 2013, a house located in 7th Avenue and Coral Gables Drive, in Phoenix, Ariz., caught on fire. The homeowners were not injured in the fire, but their dog was trapped inside and needed rescue.

The Phoenix Fire Department arrived on scene at 10:30 a.m. They immediately worked diligently to control and put out the fire. Once the flames were controlled, firefighters entered the home to search for victims.

The hero rescuers did not find any person in need of rescue inside the burning home, but the family dog was found unconscious.

According to Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Capt. Ruben Saavedra, the pet was rushed out to safety and rescuers started resuscitation techniques to revive the dog.

Eventually the dog started breathing and when it was no longer in danger, the dog was reunited with its thankful owners.

Thank you firefighters for saving an innocent life.
