7.3.15 - Transformation of Egyptian Dog

This comes from the amazing Guardians of Rescue:

It’s hard to shock our team of experienced volunteers but when we received this photo of Shai, the German Shepard who came to us from Egypt with cancer, we couldn’t believe our eyes. We’re sure you all will feel the same. We included a photo of Shai when he first arrived here in America so we can remind you (and ourselves) how far he has come in a little over two months.

Shai came to our organization from ESMA, Egypt’s largest no-kill shelter. His entire body was covered in tumors, his eyes included. We assumed the worst and thought he would be blind forever. The devoted doctors at Jefferson Animal Hospital worked tirelessly with chemotherapy and Shai is weeks away from being cancer free! And he can see perfectly!! We couldn’t be more shocked!

Shai is a BIG boy. He is 90 pounds of lap dog and is still growing. He is between 1-2 years of age and will be neutered once he is cleared by the doctors. After that, he will be able to go to a forever home.

Shai is good with larger dogs but please no cats or small dogs. Because of his size we are hoping to place him in a home with older children.

We are also requesting to find him a home on Long Island. We want to keep him close to all those who fought so hard to save his precious life.

None of us expected this recovery. None of us expected this miracle. But with skilled veterinarians by our side working to save him, it’s what we got. We couldn’t be more grateful and more in disbelief.

If you are interested in adopting Shai and are located on Long Island NY, please email us at [email protected]

Together we save them!

And as always, thank you Jefferson Animal Hospital for your exceptional care.
