Their’s is a special bond. Savannah’s mom knew a dog would help her daughter, Savannah, deal better with autism if she had a companion.  After several trips to shelters, Frankie and Savannah had and instant connection.  Savannah is able to interact with Frankie in ways that she cannot with humans.  Savannah has autism.  It is the very definition of unconditional love. What Savannah doesn’t know is that Frankie is sick.

Frankie has an illness called syringomyelia which is most commonly found in King Charles Cavalier Spaniels.    Cavalier Health describes it this way, “Syringomyelia (SM) is an extremely serious condition in which fluid-filled cavities develop within the spinal cord near the brain.  It is also known as “neck scratcher’s disease”, because one of its common signs is scratching in the air near the neck.” Because of the relationship that Frankie has with Savannah, the family has spent upwards of $3200, thus far, for an MRI, steroids, anti-convulsants, medication for pain and swelling, and all the necessary veterinarian visits.

FundAnything campaign to raise and addition $3500 after his family was able to gather together to other half of the $7000 needed for his surgery.  They can also receive donations through FundRazr where you can donate via PayPal.

Jennifer Anderson says on the FundAnything site, “We have reached out to our church group, to Autism Awareness Activist groups, her insurance everything we can think of. Most will help if the medical need were for Savannah herself, but not for Frankie. They just don’t seem to understand that Frankie is Savannah’s window to the the rest of the world. He is more important than any medication or treatment we could ever give Savannah.”
