This comes from our friends at Trio Animal Foundation in Chicago.  Here is what TAF posted:

LEFT TO FEND FOR HERSELF AFTER THEY TOOK HER PUPPIES, THIS POOR HOMELESS DOG NOW NEEDS TO HAVE HER EYE REMOVED.

TAF would like to introduce you to our newest homeless pup that is in desperate need of medical attention…

Jane was brought in as a stray to an open access shelter after being found as a stray with two other female Yorkies. She appears to have been let loose by a backyard breeder or puppy mill.

As you can see by the photos, Jane’s eye is in pretty bad shape and she cannot see out of it. Due to the damage already inflicted to Jane’s eye, she will be going in for surgery tomorrow to have it removed. For tonight, she has been started on pain medication to help ease her pain.

In addition to this, Jane’s flea ridden body appears to have had puppies not too long ago. She still has milk in her nipples and her belly is distended. Chances are that once she had her puppies, and they were a few weeks along, they had no use for her because of her injury.

If you would like to help sponsor Jane’s medical care, please consider making a tax-deductible donation at www.trioanimalfoundation.org. You can earmark your donation “Jane.” If you are making a donation via a smartphone and are not given the opportunity to earmark your donation, please forward your receipt confirmation to [email protected].

Please keep Jane in your thoughts and prayers and we will keep you posted… thanks!

Then on October 4th came this terrific update:

GREAT NEWS… JANE HAS MADE A FULL RECOVERY AND HAS FOUND HER FOREVER HOME!

It was about 3 weeks ago that Jane was brought into an open access shelter suffering from a horrendous eye infection/injury. She was in an extreme amount of pain and it was obvious that her eye needed to be removed. In fact, her eye burst just as she was going in for surgery. It is not known how long Jane had been in such bad shape but she was saved just in the nick of time. Now, after surgery, medication and weeks of recovery, little Jane is now happy and literally has a new outlook on life!

As fate would have it, Jane would catch the interest of two former TAF adopters who knew their mom would fall in love with our little Yorkie girl. Sure enough, Jane was the one! This amazing family has now adopted 4 of TAF’s little dogs and provided the most amazing lives for each of them… we couldn’t be more thrilled for Jane and her extended family!

If you get a moment, check out the video that we just posted of Jane!

(Jane will be getting groomed by her new mom’s dog groomer.)
