Over the past few years, fashion and portrait photographer Richard Phibbs has been working with the New York Humane Society to create one of a kind photos of the dogs available.  These sometimes silly, and often impossible not to smile at photos feature available dogs waiting for a forever home.

The photos have been compiled in a book titled Rescue Me.  Each of the photos in the book comes with a description of how they came to be in the care of the NY Humane Society.  Many of the tales in the book are heartbreaking, but hopefully they’ll get some of these very worthy dogs a solid home.

“My portraits of homeless animals are not meant to make people feel sad.  The goal is to find every animal a home,” said Phibbs.
