Thank  you to all of our readers who donated to Shadow’s surgery fund! After our post yesterday about Shadow, we helped raise over $1200 for his care!

We are overjoyed to report that Shadow is doing well. He has had another visit to the vet for a check up and to receive his first round of vaccines, flea treatment and heart worm meds.

Macans said he behaved very well at the vet, other than trying to sneak some treats! He happily greeted everyone who came through the door.

“As I write this, Shadow is oblivious.  He has no clue how much his little life has been touched by people he will never meet.  Instead, he continues to wrestle with Riese (our lab/rott).  He seems to like the rope toys, as they have better “shake.”  This is a happy dog with a great life ahead of him – now to find him a forever home!” says Macans.

Macans would like send out a big thank you to everyone who helped out. The response was more than they ever thought possible.

We also received the following email from April Fugate of Hometown Veterinary Care where Shadow is being treated:

“We are happy to tell everyone at Life With Dogs community that we have reached our goal for our wonderful dog,  Shadow.  Your response was overwhelming.

Our clinic takes pride in providing quality care for the four legged family members of our clients.  We believe there is a special bond between animals and humans.  Our motto is “Celebrating the Human – Animal Bond.”  So your response for this special dog has given this clinic hope in humanity and challenges us to strengthen our endeavors.

We also hope this sets your minds at ease that Shadow will not be returned to his original owner.  He’s been abandoned once.  We are going to be sure he is not abandoned again.

Shadow is scheduled for surgery on September 18th and if all goes well he will ready to go to a forever home the following week. He will be a wonderful asset to any home. If you are interested in providing that forever home please contact our clinic by phone at 319-367-5511. Click here for their website.

Thank you once again for your support of a wonderful dog.”
