City Mayor Saves Dog Trapped on Rocky Cliff

A Spanish woman imagined her dog suffered a fatal blow to the head while he fell over the cliff, but the very next morning she learned her dog was alive and well.

On October 21, 2014, a woman from Mallorca, Spain, was walking her dog around 10 p.m. near the Banyalbufar cliffs when her dog slipped and fell over a cliff. The pet owner called after her dog and searched the area hoping she would find him alive, but in the darkness of the night, the woman did not find her pet nor did she hear him bark. The dog owner gave up and thought she had forever lost her best friend.

The Spanish woman imagined her dog suffered a fatal blow to the head while he fell over the cliff. The pet’s body was either trapped on the rocky bottom or washed away to sea, but the very next morning the woman learned her dog was alive and well.

Banyalbufar’s Mayor, Mateu Ferrá, heard of the incident and on October 22, 2014, he walked on the same trail the woman took with her pet just the night before. To the Mayor’s surprise, the dog was alive and awaiting rescue.

Ferrá heard a dog barking and when he leaned over the cliff he found a dog trapped on the rocks. The Mayor immediately called local firefighters and a rescue unit arrived to rescue the pet in need.

The dog suffered minor cuts. Once hoisted back to safety he was reunited with a relieved and happy owner.

  1. And the woman was fined for lack of common sense walking a dog near a cliff at night!????! Easily preventable

  2. If that was my baby chief I would have done a rambo and rescued him but then I wouldn’t walk him some where he could fall should be a IQ test before owing a pet ,

  3. We live on a little mountain here I’m Kentucky. One day when I was traveling down to go to town I spotted a dog on the side of this cliff. I had stopped and not knowing if he would bite or not I had left food and water for him. I had done this for a few days letting him get used to me. After the 3rd day I decided it was time to try and leash the dog and take him home..I had my leash and a whole lot of courage with me but to my surprise the dog was no longer there. I already had a name picked out (Cliff) for the lonely and scared canine. I hope someone kind picked up this dog for every time I pass this spot I think of Cliff..

  4. Thank you, Mayor for saving the dog. But you shouldn’t have returned the dog to that woman. There are better and more responsible dog owners around.
