You’ve probably seen this note before – I’m pretty sure we’ve been one of the pages to post it on Facebook.  But now we’ve found out just which hotel so charmingly and jocosely welcomes dogs and cats… and sometimes even their humans.

The Cartwright Hotel in Union Square tends to rub some people the wrong way – it’s a boutique-y little place that doesn’t have a gym or a Jacuzzi.  Some guests have complained about apathetic staff and the scent of “herbal refreshments” that tends to waft through the neighborhood.  Others say the rooms and beds are too small.

But if you enjoy a unique hotel with a cozy feel, and don’t need 50+ amenities to add to your bill, the Cartwright is the place for you.  Especially if you have pets and want to travel with them.  Staff love catering to animal lovers, and even offer complimentary cat and dog treats.

  1. Sorry for the image flood…but I just had to show the BEST place I stayed in a 10 day CO roadtrip with two pooches…it was actually cheaper than a stinky smoking room in Cripple Creek that was a really gross motel. Glad I found it on the LAST 3 days, or I probably wouldn’t have traveled to all the other places (Pikes, Garden of the Gods, RMNP, Great Sand Dune Nat Park, Cuchara, Bishops Castle, etc…)

  2. I have Biscuit Inn located in Alpine Helen Georgia. No restrictions at all! No charge for pets either. Unicoi State Park is close and they have pet friendly hiking trails. Roxie Blu and Deb

  3. Loving this – it’s always hard to find a hotel. They usually have weight limits. The next hotel I have booked will allow 2 dogs @ 50 pounds. It isn’t clear if that’s each or total. It is clear that 50 pounds is 1/4 of one of my dogs, maybe closer to 1/3 of the youngster. Hmmmmmmm
