After a mother to eight pups was found emaciated, Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia is looking for the public’s help.
Hazel the dog was brought into the shelter with a broken leg. The organization is hoping to raise the $5000 needed to pay for her surgery. Hazel had been part of a humane case in Boone County. Before  the organization rescued her, she was scheduled to be euthanized.
As soon as Hazel receives her surgery, her and the pups will all be up for adoption. In order to have the surgery, however, Hazel will need to gain about five pounds.
“It’s really up to an individual’s heart, and up to an individual’s soul to ultimately decide whether or not they want to help this animal out or not, because she is a wonderful, wonderful dog. She’s a good mommy, and through all of the severe pain this dog’s in, she’s a remarkable mommy.”
The shelter is also looking for donations of puppy supplies as well. In particular they need Royal Canine Baby Dog Food.
