The ASPCA in Putnam County, NY is treating a case of abandonment as neglect, according to officials.

A 3-to 4-year-old male dog, weighing around 20 pounds was spotted roaming about Poughkeepsie’s Camp Comb area on Monday.  He was picked up on Peekskill Hollow Road by camp staff, who called the Putnam County Sheriff’s office.

There were no identification tags on the dog, and the only thing on him was a blue collar, as reported by the Putnam County ASPCA.  His hair was also extremely matted.

They are looking for any and all help from the public regarding information about the dog, and the burgundy SUV that had also been seen in the same area as the dog.  If you have any information, please call the SPCA at 1-(845)-520-6915.

Remember everyone, this little guy needs our help, and anyone randomly abandoning dogs needs to be brought to justice.  Conviction on animal cruelty and neglect is a misdemeanor in New York, and is punishable with up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine or both.
