Anyone who’s lived in or visited New York knows it’s a city full of canines and the people who love them. But where did all these dogs come from?

This week on Pulse your host and card-carrying dog owner Jess Westberg examines the paradox: while shelters are full of unwanted animals, there’s also an extremely high demand for pure-bred dogs in boutique pet stores. To get a handle on the issue, Westberg talks to pet-store owners, a full-time Animal Rescuer and an American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) spokesperson.

  1. ADOPT DON”T SHOP!!!! All my dogs have been adopted! πŸ˜€ I had had mixed breeds and purebreds … wouldn’t have changed any of them! πŸ˜€ <3 <3 <3 πŸ˜€ Love my puppies!

  2. Adopt !!! Most dogs that pet stores sell come from puppy mills !!!! Doggies that have no human socialization at all they are taken away from their mothers at an early age !! This makes it hard to train !! Adopt! not only your saving a little soul but two !!! Because another dog will take that one dog’s space at the shelter !!! You will find everything at a shelter from pure breeds to mutts !!! Please adopt is a beautiful feeling !!!:)
