In the NoMa neighborhood of Northeast D.C., the residential building 2M Street is attracting potential tenants by offering a communal pet on top of its accommodating amenities such as rooftop deck, swimming pool, private fitness center, indoor basketball court, free Wi-Fi in common spaces, café, party and club rooms, and private theater. The pet is a beautiful English Bulldog named Emmy.

According to a spokesperson for building’s owners, William C. Smith & Co., the canine will be cared by Doug, the building’s property manager. Emmy will spend her days in the leasing office enjoying her custom made dog house and will go home with Doug at the end of the day. Residents will have the opportunity to see her in the private dog park she will share with other canine building residents and upon request they can “check her out” for walks around the property.

The cute puppy is a marketing strategy by the property owners to attract residents to their building. With so many other competing properties in the area, William C. Smith & Co. decided to think outside the box and differentiate themselves from the competition.

The building is located at 2 M St. NE, Washington, DC 20002. Preleasing starts this summer.

Let’s hope the strategy pays off, but if not, at least we know that Emmy is well cared for.

You can follow up Emmy’s adventures on her Instagram account.
